Galle Fort
Galle Fort is a 52-hectare 17th-century fortified peninsula surrounded on three sides by the Indian Ocean. Photographers shoot from the stone ramparts, framing the white cylindrical lighthouse, palm trees, and ocean swells breaking against granite walls. The spot blends Dutch colonial masonry, red-tiled coastal streetscapes, and vast open sea horizons.

- Shoot at Flag Rock Bastion during late afternoon for sunset views over the ocean and dynamic compositions of local cliff divers. Golden hour brings warm light across the ramparts and the white lighthouse at Point Utrecht Bastion. Midday heat is intense and shadows on the stone walls are harsh, so plan street photography early between 06:30 and 08:30. Wide-angle lenses (16-35mm) work well for wide rampart vistas, while a telephoto zoom (70-200mm) isolates street scenes, architectural details, and breaking waves. Drones require CAA Sri Lanka and Galle Heritage Foundation permits; standard tripods are fine for personal photography.
